Picnic Dinner Ideas

On a balmy evening, a picnic in the backyard or the local park can turn a ho-hum meal into a romantic feast. There's no need to wait until the weekend, a delicious quiche and an accompanying salad and dessert can be made in a little over a half an hour.

Quiche is one of those ideal dishes for a picnic. It can be served hot, warm, or at room temperature and it's convenient to pack and carry. One of the easiest quiche recipes is made from a store bought frozen piecrust and a can of chunk-style tuna. It's simply delicious.

A perfect partner for the quiche that will delight your partner is a spinach salad with raspberry vinaigrette. The sweet and savory dressing ingredients add a certain punch to the crispy spinach leaves. For an extra crunch, throw a handful of chopped pecans into the salad.

Finally, conclude your meal with a strawberry shortcake made from pre-made shortcakes, sliced strawberries, and plenty of freshly whipped cream. The two of you can have fun assembling the shortcakes together.

A chilled bottle of Sauvignon Blanc or Riesling would be delightful with this meal, and don't forget to bring along some romantic music for you both to enjoy.

Simple Tuna Quiche

Pour egg mixture onto other ingredients in piecrust. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand for five minutes before cutting.
