Fall Picnic Ideas / Autumn Picnic Ideas
Fall picnics are a great way to get out and soak up some warm weather before the cold of winter comes. Of course, just because it’s cold doesn’t mean you can’t have a great picnic. Winter Picnics are also lots of fun. In this article, you can find some great ideas for planning a fall picnic.
A Romantic Autumn Picnic
There is something about picnics in the autumn that just says romance. The first thing to do is plan a romantic autumn picnic and be sure to make to show. The planning of a romantic autumn picnic is actually the most romantic part. It shows that you care about making a special moment and, chances are, that is exactly what your romantic autumn picnic will be.
Be sure to plan where to go on your romantic autumn picnic. The obvious choice is to wait until the leaves on the trees have started to change and plan a picnic in the forest (or the edge of a forest). If there are enough leaves on the ground (and it’s not wet), a playful leaf fight is a great way to start the sparks flying.
Some other romantic autumn picnic ideas you might want to consider are kite flying, hot-air balloon rides and horseback rides.
Autumn’s strong winds offer great kite flying weather and it’s a fun romantic autumn picnic idea.
Hot-air balloon rides are also a great romantic autumn picnic idea and they offer a great chance to bond with your mate. But unless you can fly one yourself, you have to have someone else there to operate it which can be a little bit of an awkward situation. You usually don’t want anyone else along on a romantic picnic but it is quite an experience. Something neither of you will never forget.
A horseback ride through in a secluded location is also a great romantic autumn picnic idea. Autumn offers the perfect weather to really enjoy a horseback ride. It’s often simply too hot in the summertime to enjoy a long romantic horseback ride.
Beyond planning where to go on a romantic picnic in the autumn, give some consideration to what you plan to eat. If the weather isn’t too hot, gourmet chocolates are ok to bring along with you. (If it’s too hot they will melt.) Finger foods are like sandwiches or cold chicken strips are ok but for a romantic picnic you should really try to find something special. A particular dish that you both like or a homemade soup are good choices. You could also try finishing things off with a wine and cheese or a wine and chocolate pairing.
Fall Family Picnic Ideas
Fall family picnics are a great way to take the family for an outdoor adventure before the cold weather of winter sets in. If you have a family sized picnic basket available and the ingredients for something quick and easy (like sandwiches) then it’s easy to go on a spontaneous family picnic in the fall. Just load up the picnic basket and head out in search of a great picnic location.
Spontaneous fall family picnics are great but a little bit of planning can go a long way towards making it a big success. For small children consider simple things like rock collecting, hula hooping or a scavenger hunt for simple things (a round rock, a particular type of leaf, an acorn).
Older children may want to do something more active. One great fall family picnic idea for older children is kite flying. Strong fall winds make great kite flying weather and the children will love it.
If your children like to draw, you can take along some crayons and paper. Towards the end of the day, you have them draw about the day’s picnic. It’s a fun activity for the kids and you can put the drawings up on the refrigerator to remind you of the fun you had on your latest fall family picnic.
If you have teenagers, it’s sometimes seen as difficult to plan fall family picnics but you don’t have to try too hard. There is nothing wrong with a simple fall family picnic in the park. Sometimes a Frisbee or a football is all you need to have a great fall family picnic.
